what the hell did I do last night?

Today, apparently, is going to be the kind of day that starts with waking up and thinking about what kind of day it's going to be and listening to the birds sing and looking forward to the weekend, which for me starts tomorrow and will be featuring a lot of extended family...

...And then remembering that last night I worked out the concept for an entire Sexbot!Neal AU and swore I would actually write it.

*facepalm*

Also I cannot figure out how to structure it with casefiles vs. main arc.

Of course there are still casefiles. Peter works in Robotic Crimes. Neal helps.

Surely there is some kind of, of, um, abbreviated format? Thing? I am suffering commitment phobia already. Also, oh God so many sex scenes. With a sexbot. God dammit. *g*

Okay but that obligates YOU to help me figure out the plot structure issues. I mean, I don't want to reiterate all the case files - I don't really want to reiterate ANY case files - but I still need to establish what Neal and Peter are actually doing and ...

And I thought to myself, it's okay, it's just like how you didn't have to write entire hockey games for the hockey AU and then I thought to myself "but this won't be as long as that of course" and then I, um.

write ALL the sexbots? O.O

I will bear this obligation proudly, and without complaint :)

What if, instead of reiterating case files or coming up with an entirely new and complete case file, you sort of...allude to the cases they're working on? Then you'd only need bits and pieces of cases, and those bits and pieces could establish the kind of work that Neal and Peter do, without distracting from the larger (and more important) story of Neal becoming a Real Boy.

(I suppose this is your natural writing length coming back to bite you in the ass yet again *g*)

That would be the LOGICAL thing, I guess, but that also means I have to translate all of the actual White Collar Crimes cases into Robotic Crimes cases.

Ooo, is this the sort of universe where sexbots (and other robots) are somehow clearly labeled to the world at large (like a stamp on them) or is Neal able to hide his identity for short periods of time?

Yeah, I think Neal occasionally is set up to pass as a human while working cases with Peter, but most of the time it's obvious what he is.

Man, it's really kind of like I went "what do I hate writing? CAN I BUILD AN ENTIRE STORY OUT OF THAT?"

Alas, I have mostly thought better of it--I do not have the time to undertake massive epics these days, and this would surely be one.
